Marshfield Center - Webster Square - Library Plaza
UPDATE : JUNE 2019
Just in time for the kids to be out of school, the Webster Walkability project is making some initial steps forward! Thanks to the DPW for getting new crosswalks painted in Library Plaza and Webster Square (love the Rams logos in them!) Look for speed humps to be installed in Library Plaza soon to help make it safer for kids and families to walk between the playground and other frequently visited destinations there (the Library, Tumble Fun, Peppermint Twist, Veronica’s Sweetcakes, Chef’s Table, Levitate and the Skate Park). The Chamber continues to work closely with the Town and we are looking forward to having new pedestrian crossing signs installed in the future. In the meantime, a traffic safety study is being planned and steps to beautifying Webster Square are underway through the Brixmor company, which owns most of the property there. UPDATE : January 2019 Plans for Spring 2019
The Marshfield Chamber needs your help! We are fundraising for smaller ticket items that are not in the town's budget. This includes but is not limited to landscaping, lighting, signage, various safety features. 2018: The Marshfield Chamber of Commerce has been invigorated this year discussing potential enhancements to the Library Plaza and Webster Square areas of town. This is an area of town that offers much to our residents and visitors and should continue to evolve to accommodate the Town’s needs. There is heavy traffic through this area, which is a blessing for businesses, but can be a hazard for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. The Chamber’s broad mission in the coming years is to discuss and assist in implementing ways to make our town center more walkable. We envision a family being able to park for an afternoon to enjoy the playground and library, then move on to shopping, restaurants, and ice cream. The amenities are in place, but the ability to safely navigate this area, especially with kids in tow, is lacking. We believe our businesses, many of which are owned by fellow Marshfield residents, would thrive with this increased walkability. |
